Anatomy of a prescribed fire, 2024.
Indigenous methods of fire management have been wildly underestimated in the European and greek context. These practices of controlled burn were rejected because of colonialism in the west ; as they were assimilated with paganism. With this artwork I would like to suggest a symbolic and structural resonance of the self-burn, as a way of preserving the core while attacking it.
Flames coming out of an empty stomach, represented as four reptilo-amphibian cardinals, themselves being dissected into birthing stars. A blighted creature, asking for the sky the reason for his fate, in the manner of a dislocated geometry.
