SKOTOMORPHOGENESIS (photo series)

Skotomorphogenesis is a photographic series, about strangers meeting to grow in darkness. It explores the idea of etiolation applied to humans ; etiolation being what happens to plants when they grow in the dark ; they become weak, white, and elongated to reach light.

These masked strangers share a vital black fluid, as it’s the only color they can wear to sustain their existence in darkness. Their method can be understood within the concept of the utopian body, made to be erased and join the land of the dead, but also to be transfigured indefinitely.

Under the cloak of their own contraption, these creatures perform an eternal return of promiscuity to feel alive. Chained to the pool by the invisible thread of time, ordering them to come back, always.
